Your Favorite Fire Emblem Games

simple, list your favorites and reasons
I'll start:
-Shadow Dragon
I'm aware that this game in particular gets a lot of hate in the fanbase for being a mostly straightforward remake of a 20-year old NES game, keeping it a little too faithful to the original and not adding enough changes to bring it up to the modern standard. There's gonna be some bias in this since it was my first Fire Emblem game, so...
It may not have the deepest story in the series, but what's there is engaging and I never tire of it. The gameplay, while not as complex compared to other entries, is very tight, polished, and quick. Reclassing offers a bit of customization for your units (but not to the point where it's game-breaking like Awakening). Overall it just has that classic feel to it and harkens back to simpler times. Granted some things could have been improved on, but overall it's nowhere near as awful as the fanbase purports it to be.
- Heroes of Light and Shadow
A notable improvement over Shadow Dragon as a remake and a FE in its own right (not that Shadow Dragon was bad IMO, it could have been just a bit better). The overall gameplay has been much improved, and the characters are more fleshed out and interesting. The expanded plot with My Unit and the Assassins fits nicely into the main story, and the remade BSFE chapters and new Sidestory chapters help tie the whole Akaneia Saga together. One of the best with something for all comers to the series. Only bad thing is that for whatever reason, Nintendo decided not to localize this game. Which is something I'm still bummed about.
Overall I picture Shadow Dragon to be the REVISITING of the roots and Heroes of Light and Shadow to be the RENEWAL of the Akaneia Saga.

Anyways my favorite is definitely Radaint Dawn. This was the game that really got me into the series so I have definite nostalgia bias, but I also love the height mechanic and I love the Dawn Brigade chapters to death. Seriously. DB chaps were the best.

I'd say my top ones are Radiant Dawn, Path of Radiance, Awakening and Blazing Sword. Not necessarily in that order (as I said, it kind of depends on my mood). The only game I don't particularly enjoy all that much is Binding Blade. I can actually stand Shadow Dragon and I like Heroes of Light and Shadow a lot.
I like those games because of 1: Replayability/Cast (I'm fond of the cast in every one of those games) 2: Gameplay (Blazing Sword for more old-school gameplay, POR and RD for some new and improved mechanics/skills and obviously Awakening for the pinnacle in advanced mechanics, imo anyway. I also think Por/RD had the best map design and most varied set of objectives in the series). 4 and 5 are cool and all due to story, but I found myself not wanting to play 4 again after one playthrough, as first generation pairings became a pain in the ass for me. 5 also makes me want to punch walls due to the RNG
I also agree with Shadow-- where did the height mechanic go???
But yeah. RD, POR, Awakening, Blazing Sword for favorites!

PoR, Blazing Sword, Awakening are all up there for favorites, I'm terrible at picking just one haha, FE12 and Sacred Stones next just slightly under, then FE6 and FE10 somewhere after that, and then everything else (sorry I have a hard time rating older games better lol, FE7 has that nostalgia bias tho since I played it like, over 10 years ago or something and it was my first FE game)
Signature thanks to Shu.

lol why? I loved it. It gave a great incentive to get placement on higher ground. You know, made placement more important.

13, some dodgy characters and story issues aside, it's really fun, and quite replayable.
7 has the nostalgia factor, two modes, and some great chapters.
9 has some good characters, a decent enough story, good challenges at times, and is overall a great game.
I think I'd pick 9 if I was forced to choose.

my fave one is probably Sacred Stones. The story of the game was really nice to follow and I love to beat up the monsters. this opus has too very good musics and are my favourites
Blazing sword follows it slightly because you are a tactician and for me the tactician who is useless, I find it cool <3

Agree with Bob again in that this question revolves around my current mood.
The 3D battle animations in FE9 and FE10 feel really solid and enjoyable to watch. Like you see the characters as their character models fighting rather than sprites for the first time.
FE7 got me into the series so the nostalgia's there, but it wouldn't be the most enjoyable game for me to play.
Awakening really revived the franchise IMO and helped branch out to more people, supports are back once again and the children opened up even more supports and relationship-esque stuff that was missing since FE4. There was a sense of "Oh these people loving each other actually led to someone being born", rather than everything being left to imagination).
