while it could be the problems, I'm thinking it's possible there are more different ROM versions than you think. I don't know which one it's meant to work for but it could be only set up to work for a specific translation patch--there have probably been multiple versions over the years, possibly by multiple people (I can't really remember or anything to be sure), so it's tough to say. You could try using a hex editor to search for the bytes in the order they're supposed to be, find where the data is located, and then change the offset in the Nightmare Modules, but that might be a bit difficult if you're not familiar with hex editing and such...

Try checking Serenes Forest and the Fire Emblem Shrine's mainsites. Editing the messed up values won't work, those are just wrong, haha. I'm pretty sure I hacked FE5 at one point so it should be possible, but giving ROMs out is illegal and we don't do that on this forum (actually, just for you info, even asking for it is a taboo and usually results in a ban, but I'm not going to do anything in this case).
