So I've seen people use the term ironic wrong so many times it's ridiculous. And it's got me thinking. What do you guys think of irony?

Most of my closest friends have qualities that I despise. But I love them all regardless of their faults.

I think it's hilarious that Ironic by Alanis Morissette has no ironic scenarios in it.

earlier I saw a scene in an anime where a necromancer commanding a village of zombies gets bit unwittingly and is infected by the same ones she was telling to go do whatever before

Irony is basically something that does the opposite of the intened effect.
I've seen it misused so many times. It's incredibly frustrating. The most frustrating uses are when people think irony is coincidental, or just that it means something is funny.

Personal favourite version of situation irony - a firetruck or fire station that's on fire.
