Irony

Any ironic situations that you can recall?
"You got a jacked up notion of fair play pal...and it's beginning to piss me off."
"Though a fight every now and again does make life a little more interesting...dontcha think?"
^ This isn't dead, I swear!
Most of my closest friends have qualities that I despise. But I love them all regardless of their faults.
"Why are we trying to narrow God's mercy? I didn't realize there was a limit to how many people could go to heaven."

is this considered ironic
I believe in judgment of humans through their judgment of fiction, for nothing else tells better of their disposition freed from apprehension.

I've seen it misused so many times. It's incredibly frustrating. The most frustrating uses are when people think irony is coincidental, or just that it means something is funny.
Irony CAN be coincidental or funny, but not by itself.

Irony is basically something that does the opposite of the intened effect. I've seen it misused so many times. It's incredibly frustrating. The most frustrating uses are when people think irony is coincidental, or just that it means something is funny. |
Just send them this video after screwing it up:

omg...
So this was the real Iron Man all along. My whole life is a lie...
Also irony is basically when that which is literally said (or written), differs from that which is actually meant (and you could use things like sarcasm, understatements etc to express irony).
Events in general can also be labelled ironic, especially when there's a sharp contrast between that which actually happened and that which you would actually expect. For example, a doctor curing a cancer patient, who himself then dies from that same cancer could be considered ironic. This is the type of irony you'll often find in tv shows (for example) where it's usually characterized by sarcasm or some sort of (often cynical) humoristic undertone.
Yes I paid attention in high school

Personal favourite version of situation irony - a firetruck or fire station that's on fire.
