Tactics Universe... where to get started...

Tactics Universe is an elaborate hack of Fire Emblem 7: Blazing Sword, casually referred to as just "Fire Emblem" in North America. The game hacks pretty much every concept that you could possibly think of--characters, classes, weapons, animations, graphics, maps, music, text, script, etc., you get the point.

To start, I am Blazer... here's a few things about me--

Tactis Universe was originally just called the "Fire Emblem Universe Game". It started off as a forum hack for the Fire Emblem Universe forums where members created profiles for characters and the forum attempted to work together to create the game.

Somehow I got involved in the mix and took on the leadership of the hacking. Soon enough just like every other forum hack, the forum hack was on the brink of death--most people considered it dead. At some point I took over and started getting progress, slowly but surely. I had already been involved in the Fire Emblem hacking business for a long time and I set high expectations for this hack.

Bla bla bla, stuff happened, I stopped getting much of any support or anything besides a few people like Swordsalmon and Exxucus (and on occasion Myke, a spriter, Arch, and Memento Mori, some forum staff members). Later on I decided to just completely take over the game such that I would have little regard for the original characters so that I could get better progress. Bla bla bla, more stuff happened.

I made a 4 chapter demo release a long time ago--well actually 5 chapters, from the Prologue of the game to Chapter 4. Last June this summer I released the game up to Chapter 10, the final chapter of Siegfried's mode (which is essentially equivalent to Lyn's mode). I made many fixes, updates, additions, etc.

I think that's enough background info for now. I've generally kept Tactics Universe updated on Fire Emblem Universe and Youtube. I later posted it on the Fire Emblem Shrine, my own website, Fire Emblem New Dawn, a forum of a friend of mine, and ROMHacking.net, a ROMHacking website. As of the chapter 15 release I decided to post it on more forums.



Introduction: Tactics Universe takes place on the continent of Elibe--the same continent where the stories of Fire Emblem: Sealed Sword and Fire Emblem [Blazing Sword] occur.

Currently, Etruria is invading the land and taking over each region in a massive assault. The other kingdom's have been unable to stop their advance. Lycia is taken over for the most part, most of Sacae is dominated, the nomadic tribes are in turmoil, Ilia is conquered, and the empire of Bern is barely maintaining itself. However, one man begins a rebellion-- unfortunately his attempts are futile and he is forced to retreat and go into hiding. Along with his son, a young boy named Shon, the rebel Siegfried creates another rebellion; however, this time he forges new alliances and gains new comrades in an attempt to halt Etruria and help conquer their oppression.

Reclaim the plains of Sacae and then continue the rebellion into the heart of Lycia...

Find new friends, fight in new territories, and visit areas that the future heroes of the Blazing Sword are destined to meet in the spin-off hack called Tactics Universe!.

Anakin/Kelik's mode starts off with Anakin in Pherae. Very recently Siegfried was caught in a bad situation by the Etrurian General Howard. Many of the rebels scattered in order to preserve the rebellion a little bit. Some of them stayed at Caelin to fend off Howard and his soldiers.

In chapter 8 of Siegfried's mode, the player meets Anakin, a motivational speaker who supports the rebellion. At the beginning of chapter 9, Anakin and two comrades of his, Ace and Eduardo, travel to Pherae by order of Siegfried. The game starts off here where Anakin is attempting to spread about word of the rebellion and gain support for the cause, when Kevin, a Knight who was in league with Siegfried, shows up to convey some news.

In chapter 12, the game switches to Kelik, a young leader of a mercenary group called the Legend Mercenaries. Up until now, he has only discreetly attacked Etruria and fought against them. This includes minor raids and the such. His mercenary group is a small group consisting of only a few soldiers, all of which have a goal or ambition that they are working for--ultimately, however, the mercenaries have a dislike for Etruria.

After the events of chapter 12, Anakin and Kelik meet together in chapter 13, then team up and cooperate in order to reconquer Caelin and save Siegfried. The game will continue as the Universe Rebellion, as it is called, fights against Etruria's tyranny. Unfortunately, there is more to the war than the rebellions could ever imagine...

Very nice Blazer a great job none the less I would play it now but I'm being really lazy ATM.

My parents won't let me download this due to fear of viruses despite me saying "No one that's downloaded this has got viruses from it" But my parents are to stubborn. I would download it, sorry.

Well, I started it. Shon can solo the prologue, as you intended, right? He had fair stat growths. Looking forward to the rest, maybe when I get back from work tomorrow.

He CAN, but you have to be careful. Make use of trees, be defensive, and try and make it so that you use the trees/forest but the soldiers don't.

Rapier is SUPER EFFECTIVE against Byron the Lion. XP. Play it as you will, but post your final end-game stats if you can. I'm very curious for everyone and discussion would be great (I mean, A Sacred Dawn gets lots of discussion, but MK's hack doesn't have tons of custom maps or custom events or anything, just lots of cameo's and OC's with very good sprites XP).

PS: You only heal 1 HP on that home gate? LOL, I like the Fortress on that island.

I'll download it later today and play it. I watched the trailer and it looks brilliant. All that effort finally came to fruition.

The best thing is that everything is custom, I can't be bothered playing hacks that don't change the maps around...

Yeah, the thing about playing hacks without changed maps and events is that it's like I already know what's going to happen in a way, I can expect things, it's like I'm just replaying the game but I'm calling the characters different names and giving them new looks, and maybe changing the storyline a little (but you still would have to make sure it "fits" the original game).

So I can't wait until somebody besides me makes a "full custom" hack so I can play and enjoy it, Nintenlord's Saga was GREAT but NL doesn't work on it anymore. D:

I am at chapter 4 right now, everything is going well. I haven't noticed any bugs either so great job till now!

Awesome, but I have a bugfix because I had a couple of bugs reported and I needed to fix them.

The first post is being updated with v2.5.2 stuff. if you encounter a glitch in chapter 8 or the house in chapter 2 doesn't work, try this patch!!!

The house one isn't huge, as for the other one you can't play over it if it happens to you (it doesn't happen to some people). What you do is, redo the patching to another ROM, and then transfer the save file to the new fixed one, and then you start playing at the same time.

You could also do Shift+F1 in your current ROM, redo the patching as I said above, and then transfer the savestate to the fixed ROM by renaming it to "GameName#.sgm", GameName = name of the ROM and # is the Savestate #. If you put '1' then you have to press "F1" on your keyboard to load the savestate, if it's '2' you press 'F2', etc., for example "TacticsHack4.sgm", and my ROM is "TacticsHack.gba", I click F4 once I load the ROM and I go to where I just was in the bad version.

K I hope I explained it well enough. Sorry if it's confusing.

How come in chapter 2, the word 'KILL' is spelt out on the ground?
